The Versatility of the Nicki Minaj Viva Glam Lipstick - Pics & Ideas!

I hope you're enjoying your Sunday.  We are HUGE wrestling fans here and I'm so excited today because it's Wrestlemania 28!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Aaaahhhh!!  I can't wait.  I hope you're enjoying your Sunday wherever it may take you. 

So do ever just sit with your makeup or a new product that you bought and try a ton of different things to see what you can do with it?  I do that A LOT!  LOL  I'm always trying to find other ways I can use a product and think it's really important to think outside the box when it comes to makeup and beauty products.  It's great practice because it comes in handy when a makeup emergency arises and you have to think quick on your feet!

I also really love when makeup and beauty products are multi-purpose/multi-use.  It makes packing and planning your kit for an event or job way easier, too.  And if a product has a dual purpose (or more!), then you get more bang for your buck and who doesn't love that!??  As Jessica Simpson says, "I love a two-fer!"  Any Fashion Star fans in the house?  :)

But I digress... when the latest Viva Glam lipstick came out (hollah Nicki Minaj!!) I was excited to get it and play, play play.  I had read a lot of blogs where people expressed feelings that the lipstick is not wearable or good as an every day lipstick, etc.  I wanted to show you that depending on how you wear it, makes all the difference!  

This lipstick, while at first impression looks loud and crazy, can be toned down to a beautiful, wearable neutral (seriously!) or amped up to be as loud and in charge as you want it to be.  It's a gorgeous, yellow based pink that is quite bright.  You can wear it alone or pair it up with different colored liners and/or glosses to pull it more pink, yellow or whatever your fancy may be!  

Word of caution -- because of the yellow undertone of this lipstick, it can make you look sallow or even enhance the yellow in your teeth if they're not quite white (smokers, heavy coffee drinkers, etc.).  If it doesn't work for you, give it to a friend!  100% of the proceeds go to the MAC Aids Foundation. Yay!! :D

Here are five examples of what you can do with the Nicki Minaj Viva Glam lipstick:

*NOTE: I have no makeup on and I know my skin doesn't look perfect! While creating these looks, it was easier to remove the products and put them back on in between pictures without having to retouch foundation every single time. 

Look 1 - soft & neutral - The "Anybody Can Wear This Lip"

Products: MAC Spice Lip Pencil (the new formula) and MAC Subculture Lip Pencil (you could use just Stone Lip Pencil as well, especially if you have medium - darker skin). Then using a lip brush, lightly dab on Nicki Minaj VG lipstick and blend it out. Voila! Soft, neutral pink that is so lovely. :)
Finish: Matte

Look 2 - bright and Springy! - The "Wearable Everyday Lip"

Products: Estee Lauder Double Wear Lip Pencil in Pink and NYX Fuschia Lip Liner blended together so it didn't pull too "baby" pink.  Use a lip brush to blend Nicki Minaj VG lipstick over top. This is a very wearable "everyday" pink for most skin tones.
Finish: Soft Bright Matte

Look 3 - BAM, BOOM! - The "Make a Statement Lip"

Products: MAC Cherry Lip Pencil (blend out the liner into the lip) then apply Nicki Minaj VG lipstick through the entire lip and top off with Sheen Supreme Mango Sheen Lip Gloss.  Perfect for a night out with the girls or your special guy/gal.  Hell, I'd wear this to go shopping because this lip is fierce!
Finish: High Shine

Look 4 - soft & colorful - The "Spring Trend Lip"

Products: Make Up For Ever Lip Pencil in 18C and MAC Temperature Rising Lip Pencil blended into each other. Blend Nicki Minaj VG lipstick over top. I wanted to pull the yellow out of this lipstick, so I used lipliners that were in the orange/coral family.  Word of caution with this combo: if you have yellow teeth, the yellow undertones in this lipstick will make them look yellower!  :(
Finish: Bright Matte

Look 5 - soft & colorful w/a glossy finish - The "Glossy Spring Trend Lip" 

Products: (same as above) then add MAC Flurry of Fun Lip Glass over top for an extra pop of peachy tangerine goodness and shine!

Finish: Glossy
